It's a sad day when a 'health care' organization would stand in support of not only a cultural lifestyle choice but a known unhealthy one at that. The lifestyle choice is one thing, it's another to consider the astronomical health costs related to the abnormality. Embracing it doesn't change that fact, it only ensures that 'all' health care costs will rise and those choosing healthier lifestyles will end up picking up the larger tab.

This 'bill' as it were is providing special rights and if the public has their say, hopefully they can turn back this abomination in Olympia.

Group 'Health', stay out of the culture war and focus on health and healthy lifestyle choices, not ones that historically have been detrimental to the health and well being of society.

Thanks for this information! As a retired nurse, I could see how badly we needed healthcare reform for years.....it was a long hard fight. I'm appreciative of Obama's work to make it happen, proud of Washington State's timely implementation, and glad to be a member of Group Health which has been a leader in development of best practices, preventative care, electronic record-keeping, health care cost containment, and customer satisfaction, etc.

The exchange is being created to provide affordable health coverage for individuals and small business. Rates will be subsidized for qualifying applicants. The elements of the proposed state exchange do not have a direct impact on current Group Health insurance rates.

Will Group Health be doing a cost assessment of this program/ My guess is that we can expect to see rates go up significantly if all these parts are included.
